History
Slne?né jazerá, the greatest dominant, made the Town famous both in Slovakia and abroad. The origin of Slne?né jazerá is related to intensive gravel dredging since 1845. The Ugrian Railway Administration mined gravel for the purposes of building the Railway Bratislava - Galanta.
Five separate water units were produced through intensive dredging which caused it to form the single one. This is the way how the 100 Ha and approximately 12 m deep Lake came into existence.
In 1919 the Slovenská Beseda in Senec first came with the idea to make use of the Lake, so-called "Báger", as a natural bathing place. The Slovenská Beseda, in co-operation with the "59. Zbor Slovenskej Ligy Báger", aligned and fenced the water surface for the purposes of bathe. The natural bathing place "Báger" was newly titled as "Slovenské Tahiti". This name didn't take hold, and both Senec residents and visitors of the natural bathing place called the area as "Báger".
In 1930 the 59. Zbor Slovenskej ligy in Senec finally took charge of the natural bathing place. The 59. Zbor Slovenskej ligy in Senec leased the bathing place from ?SD (Czechoslovak Railways), fenced it and established a restaurant and possibilities of refreshments along with the little dock-yard on the beach. Slovenská liga dedicated the profit from the admission fee in the value of K?s 1.50/visitor to support Slovak pupils in want.
The famous "Venetian Nights" were organized on Lake Báger, and the young used to play tennis, volleyball and similar games on the beaches. In 1960 Lake Báger was renamed to recent "Slne?né jazerá", when the new name of this natural bathing place was chosen by tender. Gradual building of the area turned the Lakes into the popular destination for visitors not only from Slovakia but also from Europe. Each year a lot of overseas visitors also make a visit to the area.
